Below
are some friends and associates that I have
known over the years that deserve a plug.
Jason
Thomas Programmer/
Network Tech
Jason and I go way back. We use to go to ITT Tech together, of course schools only last so long, but we still get together when we can. He can do some pretty cool stuff with programming and networking.
If you are curious, go to his site and find out.
Rob Bokone Game / Level Designer
He is a old friend and co-worker of mine. He is an up and coming Game and Level Designer. Check out his site to see some of the projects that he has done.
Tim Wilmont Alpaca Farm Owner
We have known each other for a long time. Tim and family have a Alpaca Farm out in Duvall. If that grabs your attention for any reason, go to his site to find out more.
At one point in my life when I had a stronger back, I use to play in a music band as the bassist and Tim was one of the members. That time has passed, but
Tim and I will always remain friends.
Below
are some game and art sites that have been more
than beneficial to me and hopefully for others.
Game Developer Conference
This is a great place to go to meet people,
network, find a job, and have fun and more.
There is nothing else out there like this and
it is a wonderful experience. If you are in
the gaming industry or want to be, this is a
great conference to go to. It is not cheap,
so start saving up right away.
International
Game Developers Association
I have been a member now for 2 years and there
can be many perks to this association. It is
also a great way to get to know people and find
out about upcoming events.
Concept Art.org
This is a great site to see what other artists
are up to. I have posted a couple things there
myself. If you ever want to have something critiqued,
this is also a great place for that.
Deviant Art.com
This is another art forum, similar to Concept Art.org, but I would consider it to be a more casual art site, then career oriented site like Concept Art.org. Deviant was the first art forum that I became a member of. I go to
Concept Art.org mainly now, but it is still a great forum to check out.
Gnomonology
If there is a tutorial site that you would like
to be able to go to that can provide you with
some answer to many different art mediums. This
would be a great place to start out. They have
free stuff there as well as stuff that you can
purchase of course. Overall it is a great site
to have in your collection.
The Gnomon Workshop
Some of the greatest artist in the industry
have come to Gnomon and have created professional
DVD's that you can buy and learn from. Everything
from sketch to completed illustrations. I personally
have bought a good amount of DVD's through them
and can't say enough great things about it.
I highly recommend the use of their DVD's. I
hear that the books are great to, but I have
not gotten around to purchasing one. It is on
my list though.
Below
are some professional artists that have given
me inspiration to become a better artist over
the years.
Ryan Church
He has worked on a number of different movie titles
from the upcoming Star Trek, War of the Worlds,
to Transformers.
John Howe
John is one of the great artists from the Lord
of the Rings Trilogy.
Aaron Sims
Can't forget to ass Aaron Sims... He worked on one of my new favorite movies, I Am Legend. He has also worked on Golden Compass and the upcoming Narnia- Prince Caspian.
Dylan Cole
If you have ever looked at a matte painting that
was just unbelievable and wondered who the artist
was. Chances are it just might have been Dylan
Cole. He also worked on Lord of the Ring- The
Return of the King. He has done matte painting
for movies like, The Chronicles of Riddick, The
Fast and the Furious, Superman Returns, Memoirs
of a Geisha and more.
Gerhard Mozsi
I stumbled upon this artist doing research. He has worked recently on Terminator 4, and has new film projects coming up. He also has two other sites that you can check out. His Blog and his Company.
Feng Zhu
A wonderful Concept artist. He is actually one
of the artists that I have gotten tutorial DVD's
at Gnomon Workshop. He has worked on movie titles
such as Star Wars- Episode III. He does mostly
freelance work and has worked on games, movies,
commercials and so on. Feng is definitely an artist
to learn a few things from.
Geoffroy Thoorens
I came across this great artist looking at different tutorials. I couldn't resist added the link.
Tim Warnock
He does Matte Painting and Concept Art. I found out about him through a new book that I bought callsed Digital Painting Techniques. He has worked on a number of different movies as a Matte
Painter including some title like Sherlock Homes, The Watchmen, Green Zone, Prince of Persia, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and more. I am pretty darn impressed.
